Remembering - sometimes we try to remember everything.....the to do list, the encourage list, the planning list.....there really are so many things we try to remember. It can be overwhelming just to remember what we have to prioritize. There is one simple thing to remember that brings life into everything, today, tomorrow and into eternity and that's the Name of Jesus.
The Name of Jesus has been used as a blessing and as a curse word. When we speak the Name of Jesus do we remember the power of His Name and do we consider the context we or someone else are using it in? Do we honor God by how we speak and remember the Name of Jesus?
In Luke, Chapter 23 verses 32-43 we learn about two criminals who were hung to the right and left of Jesus. They were being punished justly according to their wrong deeds.
One criminal, Scripture says, hurled insults at Jesus. "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
He didn't get it....Jesus WAS saving him by sacrificing Himself. The other criminal rebuked the first saying "Don't you fear God, since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
The incredible beauty of remembering happens immediately. v 43 Jesus answered him,"I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
Remembering.....when you have regrets about your misdeeds, about things you have failed to remember, fears about the future, or simply an unending list of things to do....take the first moments of those circumstances to remember to ask Jesus to remember YOU!
Do it as the first thing on your to do list every day and then remember with complete confidence that Jesus can be trusted to remember you.
Like the two criminals on the cross, we are all sinners....which one will you be like today?
May God bless you and keep you in His perfect peace today and always,
May Jesus remember you with love,
