Tasty Tuesday-What's for Dinner

About twice a year I like to shop my pantry and freezer. This means I try to use up the contents of my pantry, freezer, and fridge forgoing grocery shopping (filling in necessities like milk, of course!)  until it is cleared out. This keeps us from wasting food and allows me to clean and reorganize. It's amazing how much you can accumulate and forget about. Because I am not a list maker I end up repeatedly buying the same things over and over.......Anyway, when the inventory starts to get low it becomes a little harder to plan a meal. That is until I ran across this little gem of a website. You click the ingredients you have on hand and it comes up with recipes for you. Neat, huh? If you want to check it out click here.

Tasty Tuesday-Sweet and Sour Chicken

I love when my sweet girls want to prepare dinner. I love not just the practical skills they are learning in the kitchen but also that they are building a sweet friendship. If you are looking for a yummy and easy dish...keep on reading,
Get a baggie with some corn starch and add your chichen.

Close bag and put on your bag shakin' face-as demonstarted by my
lovely assistant.
Whisk up a few eggs.

After you dredge your chicken in cornstarch add it to your egg
mixture-be sure to coat both sides.
Add your chicken to the hot oil. Brown both sides. Takes
about 2-3 minutes each side. We brownd the chicken in three
batches to ensure the chicken would brown and not steam. Add
it to your baking dish. (Alison is getting to be a pro on the stove!)

In between browning mix up your sauce. I would double the
sauce and keep the extra warm on top of the stove. Some like it
                                                 saucier than others.
Pour the sauce evenly over the chicken.
Add some bell pepper to the mix and it is ready for the oven!
Voila! Served over some yummy fluffy white rice. And the verdict
                                                  is.................................
Thumbs up from my girlies and.............................................

My sweet men happily took seconds! We hope you enjoy as much
as we did!

Tasty Tuesday-Better Than a Hug Cake

Sometimes a girl just needs a hug and sometimes that hug should come in the form of chocolate deliciousness. Bake this and cut yourself a big ol' piece and don't share it with anyone ;)

Tasty Tuesday-Homemade Baby food

I was at a party the other day and I overheard a conversation about some mom's wanting to try to make their own baby food. I made a lot of my kiddos baby food and it was much easier than I thought. Below are a few links to making and freezing your own baby food. http://rustsunshine.blogspot.com/2011/06/homemade-baby-food.html
