Being Thankful
I am relatively new to facebook. I can say that! Actually, I am on my second try at facebook as of November 12. The first time--I didn't like it. One of my friends asked me this time whether I liked it or not. I really didn't know what to say. I hadn't made up my mind whether I liked it the second time around. I can now say that I have been blessed, not by facebook, but by my cyber friends' posts. By the way, they are real friends in my life as well.
The realization came yesterday as I was reading a 22 day commitment to write out something this person was thankful for during the month of November. It started November 1 and went through Thanksgiving Day. What touched me was how vulnerable this person was willing to be during her 22 days of being thankful. It was and is heart warming.
It reminded me of 2 Thessalonians 5:16-18, and a light bulb moment I had one time when I was wondering what God's will was for my life.
2 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
It was like I was reading 2 Thessalonians over and over again through my friend's posts. It was a gentle reminder to me that giving thanks in all circumstance is God's will for me in Christ Jesus. And that praying continually is a command. And what about being joyful. Combing all three commands in verses 5:16-18 is definitely easier said than done. Yet, when I saw it done through a 22 day commitment to be thankful, I also realized that I had received a blessing by someone putting those commands into action. I was truly thankful, too.
