My first year of MOPS I'll admit I was so confused on the inner workings of it. I had no idea really what or who leadership was, I didn't understand what A DGL was, and I was especially lost on what a mentor mom was. That first year I really only formed one connection (love ya, Trish) and I kept coming only because I got like a second away from my screaming grouch-a-saurus. I wasn't sure if I was going to come back, but right before the MOPS year began I was asked to be a DGL. I got information that outlined the duties of a DGL (mystery one, solved) and thought it sounded like a fun and exciting opportunity. I met my DGL coordinator (love ya, Gabe) from the Steering team and she really took the time to let us in on what the steering team did, who they were, and how they helped set the tone for the MOPS meetings. The first meeting came and I met my Mentor Mom (love ya, Lisa) and was I ever in for a sweet surprise! I finally knew what a mentor mom was. She was an angel with a listening ear, she gave honest not sugar coated advice, she was a prayer warrior, and she was just one of the girls.
Why am I sharing this? Because, I hope this year you will get a clear picture of who we are as a leadership team, what we do, and why we do it. We want to make MOPS an exciting and fulfilling part of your life. We want to make sure that we are helping to feed you as a whole woman in a faith, family and mom connection. We want you to know that we are here for you, not just at MOPS but everyday! We care about you and your family and we find it a privilege to pray for you and to encourage you on your journey.
I am so excited for what this upcoming year holds. We have such an amazing group of DGL's-2 of which were at my table as a DGL (Love ya, Mieka and Tammy), mentor moms who are second to none, and steering members who are pretty awesome. All of which bring their own special gifts to their position. I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday!
