I have been where you are and I know where you are going. When you are once again rocking your little one watching night turn into day remember it is fleeting. The soft baby sighs on your neck will turn into running tight hugs around your neck. Those fat little hands you hold will grow and match the size of your own. The cuddles and the constant need for mommy's attention will slowly be replaced with a quick hug (at your urging) and independence. It is all good. It is a joy watching your babies grow into beautiful, independent people but you will look back and wish you knew when the last rock, or last hand in hand walk in the park, or the last time you would pull that favorite story from the shelf, because one day you will miss it. So, cherish today and don't be too anxious for the next milestone because it will come and it will be great!
As I watch my first born enter into adulthood I am excited about our changing relationship. She may not need me to kiss her boo boo's but she still needs me. I don't hold her hand but I follow her now walking a few steps behind just in case she makes a wrong turn or needs a safe place to fall. Prayerfully, with my other two I will follow suit.
So today, marvel at that precious one of yours. Enjoy the moment you are in and go ahead and read that story one more time. What a neat idea God had when he created mother's.
I am sad to leave you all but I am no longer a mother of a preschooler. I know my journey will go on. God has plans in store for me and I am looking forward to see where He leads me. This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I will cherish my time with you until my journey on earth is finished.
God has big plans for you too! Don't be afraid to step
out in faith. Be bold and indeed love as if your life depended on it.
When motherhood has moments where it is daunting and crazy remember you now have a 'big sister' who has been there and done that and she would love to take your phone call and listen as you share your heart with sympathetic understanding.
Thanks for the memories!

Of course I read this right after doing my mascara, ha ha! Oh Rebecca, I so so so so needed this post about cherishing the days rather than wishing them to go faster.
ReplyDeleteAnd I cannot wait to worship Jesus by your side on those streets of gold one day.
TOTALLY LOVE YOU!!!
You are such a beautiful writer, Rebecca. I will miss you a lot! Think I can fit you in my purse so you can still come to MOPS? ;). I am excited for you as your Mom adventures continue on to the next stage! See you soon, ok?

Rebecca, you made a beautiful place in MOPS and in the hearts of all the moms and kids that were there with you. You will be remembered for so many things; your beautiful heart, your beautiful face, your beautiful children, your beautiful stories, your beautiful sense of humor, your beautiful life message, which comes as all of our does, from a beautiful mess that God has worked out into something wonderful and fearfully made....YOU. I'm so glad I got the chance to get to know you because I will never forget you.... LOVE YA, Cheryl
